Women's Hair Loss: Finally The Solution To Thinning Hair!

Thursday, 25 June 2009

An estimated 40% of women experience noticeable hair loss by the age 40. Women rarely lose their hair due to genetic predisposition. However hair loss in women is reaching new high levels. Women's hair loss can start as early as the late teens to early twenties. Most commonly, women experience an overall thinning of hair rather than a receding hair line like men do. It is normal to lose 50 to 150 hairs in a day; however hair loss in women usually occurs when these hairs start to be replaced by shorter, thinner hairs. This can be hard to notice at first, but over time it can become very apparent. Thinning hair loss in women may be caused by many problems:

Hormonal imbalance and other cyclical shifts.

Hair loss related to pregnancy postmenopausal trauma.

Effects of medications including birth control pills.

Nervous conditions including tension and stress.

Medical treatments such as chemo therapy and thyroid conditions.

Harsh chemicals such as commercial shampoos, perms, hair color, and bleach

Iron, vitamin and mineral imbalance.

Severely poor diet including dehydration.

Poor circulation can cut off the nutrients that blood flow delivers to the scalp.

Good News For Hair Loss Suffers:

Women have a higher success rate than men, because they have less testosterone and fewer, more evenly dispersed receptor sites in the follicles. In as little as 3 months you can start to notice fuller, thicker hair and even new hair growth.

* Regenerx penetrates the hair shaft, restoring the follicle, resulting in thicker hair.

* Regenerx improves circulation by increasing blow flow to the scalp.

* Regenerx also acts as a thickening agent that naturally conditions and will not alter or damage color treated hair.

* Regenerx is all natural safe alternative to Rogaine however without the side effects associated with minoxidil which can include scalp irritation, itchiness and dryness. Also, unlike minoxidil, Regenerx does not contain any alcohol or propylene glycol (PPG) which can really irritate the scalp and alter or damage color treated hair.

Regenerx- Finally...the solution for thinning hair.

Regenerx was developed from clinical research work conducted at Department of Dermatology, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, in Scotland.

Treatment with this formulation in the patients suffering from mild to severe hair loss showed significant improvement compared with the control group. Researchers have concluded that pharmacologically active stimulants for hair growth are present in this formulation of specific essential oils and that these oils can be therapeutic in patients with alopecia and thinning hair. The researchers also point out that the formulation caused no side effects, while steroids and other common agents can cause adverse side effects as described above.

Regenerx contains a unique blend of natural oils like cedarwood, rosemary, and lavender which help stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow to the scalp. More blood flow allows more of the important nutrients and vitamins to reach the scalp. Increased blood circulation can help awaken previously dormant follicles and promote new hair growth.

Regenerx formulation also includes jojoba, grapeseed, thyme, and rosemary oils to help condition and revitalize the scalp. These ingredients contain antioxidants which neutralize free-radicals that can damage cells of the scalp. Natural oils like these moisturize and soften dry, damaged scalp to help restore hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth. Jojoba and grapeseed oils are also very effective carrier oils. Carrier oils promote the absorption of other oils into the skin to further increase their effectiveness.

Hair follicles can sometimes become clogged with build-ups of sebum that inhibit hair growth. It's important to clean out this build-up to make way for new hair growth. Lavender, thyme, and jojoba are natural oils that can clear out sebum to make way for new hair growth. In some cases bacteria can inhibit hair growth. These oils also have antiseptic properties that can destroy harmful bacteria and soothe the scalp to create a better environment for hair growth.

Women experiencing hormonal changes often find that their hair starts to thin and becomes brittle. Years of harsh treatment combined with blow-drying and exposure to the sun may irreparably damage hair and decrease volume. Regenerx is a natural way to bring back fuller hair by stimulating hair growth as well as volumizing existing hair using natural essential oils. Whether you are experiencing advanced women's hair loss, noticing a slight thinning of your hair, or want to prevent hair loss altogether. Regenerx provides a unique and effective treatment for women's hair loss that can have you seeing noticeable results just in 3 months or less. You don't have to suffer from the effects of hair loss. Finally there is a effective all natural solution for thinning hair.

Hair Growth Shampoo for Women

Saturday, 28 May 2011

Around twenty five percent of people will have some kind of hair loss issue in their lifetime. Hair loss can be caused by many different things it does seem like the number is slowly increasing. There are many different treatments for hair loss, some are natural where as some are artificial and others are a hybrid of both. Some of the products help your hair externally where as some are digested and help your hair from within. Hair Growth Shampoo helps by delivering certain hair growth ingredients topically.

Health Starts From Within

The same type of food that is considered diet food is also very good for the production and development of your hair. The goes for males and females but today we are going to focus specifically on the ladies. Diet plays a very big role in hair health so if you eat a diet composed of fried foods your hair will most likely be brittle and break easily.

Omega oils are also important in your diet, they promote healthy joints and hair growth. People who lack these healthy fats develop arthritis faster and their hair generally grows slower. Iron is also something that is key in hair development. Women generally have low iron levels after childbirth which can lead to hair loss and breakage.

Eating foods like red meat, lentils and poultry can raise your iron levels. When you fry foods it lowers their nutritional value so try to eat food that is fresh and grilled if at all possible. Vitamin B-12 is one of the keys to feminine hair loss. You can find it in foods like shellfish, milk and eggs. Your hair has to have vitamin B-12 to be healthy.

Many women suffer from the lack of healthy B12 levels one this is treated their hair usually becomes healthy in as little as a few months. So if you are having problems with hair loss this will stop it and encourage new hair growth. Vitamin B7 is also a key player in hair loss. It helps grow new follicles by making the scalp as healthy as possible.

You can find biotin in your every day diet in foods like peanuts, liver and raw egg yolks. The egg white counter acts the effects of the biotin so if you want to obtain B7 like that make sure you only ingest the yolk. The most common way to get biotin in your system is with hair vitamins or by taking a biotin supplement. The recommended daily dose of biotin an adult should in take is right around 600mcg's a day.

Another great supplement to add to the list is zinc oxide which helps balance out hormone levels which can lead to premature hair loss. The average adult should ingest about 20mg of zinc oxide a day. Folic acid is also very important in hair growth it is also know as Vitamin B9 or Bc. It helps make your scalp more healthy and inhibits new hair growth in combination with B12.

Natural Plants That Help with Hair Growth

A groups of herbs that are great for hair growth are know as a botanical blend called trichogen. Trichogen was developed in Europe it is basically a botanical blend of 18 different herbs that when mixed together help put your hair back into a healthy growth phase. When hair becomes healthy it will grow stronger and faster. When the follicle is at its healthiest is when you are going to see the most progress. This may not be able to stop hair fall completely but it can drastically slow it down.

hair growth can be affected during menopause by HRT which is also know as hormone replacement therapy. This is where neutral hormones are put back into a womens body to regulate her level. This can effect hair growth, if the levels are too low the hair will grow slowly and be weak so having correct levels are very important. A good natural replacement is green tea the antioxidants help balance out testosterone and other hormones.

There are many other things said to work for hair growth, wether they do or not is really up to the person who uses them. Everyone is different for one person licorice extract may lead to new growth depending on why the hair was not growing before. For others it may not due anything because the hair loss is due to stress not lack of certain vitamins or minerals.

Reasons to Care About Your Hair

There are certain hair products that are more prone to damage your hair, this is a clear cut fact. Damaging products can cause things like weak hair and thin hair. The hair thins because the bulb that holds it in place deteriorates causing the hair to simply fall out. If you are having trouble with thinning hair using a color treatment or chemical treatment is a huge gamble. Most of the time it won't due any damage, but every once in a while it will cause your hair to fall out in large patches. This is caused because your scalp gets irritated and swells causing the follicle to die and fall out.

Hair Loss Basics You Need to Know If You Want to Stop Hair Loss.

Monday, 8 June 2009

First let me explain hair growth.

Hair actually is formed at the base of a hair follicle. A follicle is like a pouch that is located below the skin. What we usually call hair is actually the hair shaft, which is hardened tissue that grows from a follicle.

As you know our head contains thousands of hair follicles. Did you know that not all of them are not active at the same time? It's true. Studies proved that not more than 80% of our follicles are producing hair growth at any one time. The remaining 20% of the follicles are asleep or dormant.

When our inactive or dormant hair follicles start working again, they push out the old hair while producing a new one. Our hair grows from the follicle at an average rate of one-half inch every month. The hair growth continues for a period varying between four and seven years, after which the hair begins a 'resting' phase. After this resting phase, it is time for the hair to fall out. As a hair falls out, a new hair grows in its place after a gap of three weeks to three months. There are chances of us losing 50 to 100 hairs in any day. Some of us lose even more than that, not to regrow hair back again. This is why you need to have help starting back up the hair follicle engine.

Depending on age, weight, metabolism, hormones, ethnicity, medications, and Genes hair will grow differently, which is why some hair loss solutions work for some people and not others.

There are 3 distinct phases of hair growth: Anagen, Catagen and Telogen.

1. The anagen phase is also called the active growth phase.

This phase continues for several years. At any given time, the major portion (85%) of our body hair is found to be in this phase.

During this Anagen phase, the hair has an abundance of melanin (Pigment).

2. The Catagen or the regressive phase lasts for a period of nearly two weeks, during which the hair stops growing but has not yet shed. It has been observed that about 3 - 4% of our body hair is in this phase at any given time.

3. The telogen phase or the resting phase continues for 5 - 6 weeks, at the end of which the hair falls out and a new hair begins to take shape. Nearly 10-13% of our body hair is in this phase at any given time. There is an extensive loss of hair when more hair enters and stay in this phase. Research has established that the shock caused to the human system by stress and sickness can result in a larger percentage of hair staying in the resting phase, leading to reduced active hair regrowth along with an accelerated period of loss of hair.

OK, now how do we get our hair to wake up, fall out and grow back stronger?

We already mentioned above the main contributors to hair loss which were, age, weight, metabolism, hormones, ethnicity, medications, and Genes. Other factors that can cause hair loss include, childbirth, birth control pills, disease or illness, hair treatments because chemicals are used, hair styling like braiding, weaving and some doctors will tell you that a poor diet can effect hair loss.

Some of these factors we cannot control but others we can control. All studies indicate that the main contributor that we can control is DHT (DiHydrotestosterone).

DiHydrotestosterone, (DHT) is an active metabolite of the testosterone hormone that is formed in the adrenal gland, hair follicles, prostate glands and testes. DHT belongs to the class of compound known as androgen's, which is commonly known as the testoids or androgenic hormone to doctors but for us its' a type of steroid hormone. Males produce the DHT very early in life. This helps in the formation of the male specific characteristic such as development of the body hair, development of the facial hair, thickness of the voice and etc. DHT Blockers work to prevent the effects of this hormone after the puberty phase is completed, and the abundance of this compound is no longer needed in men.

DHT in the scalp is the main contributor of hair loss. DHT is created by testosterone which is why hair loss mainly affects males. When testosterone is naturally converted to DHT, the result is hair loss. Although everyone has DHT some people lose hair while others don't.

Hormonal changes are the #1 factor in hair loss of both men and women. This is mainly because of the hair follicles having a greater number of Androgen's receptors (regulators of gene expressions) for the DHT to attach to.

In simple terms the hair follicles need to block DHT build up and this will keep the hair on your head where it belongs.

Understanding the role of the DHT both in the male and the female pattern baldness, the researchers have discovered some unique way to prevent this hormone to act on the receptors in the scalp. Products that prevent those hormones are often called DHT Blockers.

Research has established that DHT is 30 times more potent as compared to the testosterone hormone. This is due to the fact that it has an increased affinity for the androgen receptor. However, there are many topical DHT blockers and inhibitors that are easily available in the open market under different brand names - being manufactured and marketed by different companies. Inhairit, Advica, Procerin, ProFillica and Provillus are some of the DHT inhibitors.

Saw Palmetto is one of the most potent and effective herbal or natural DHT blocker, which is far cheaper than most of the other DHT inhibitors in the market, but may not be as effective for some people as the products listed above. Blocking DHT is effective in slowing the effects of the hormone on the follicle, slowing hair loss. Some hair loss shampoo formulas use Saw Palmetto in their ingredients as a topical inhibitor for DHT.

It is believed that DHT also participates in the development of acne. Women with high level of the DHT will develop some male secondary sex properties such as hair growth just above their upper lips, or side burn whiskers, more developed muscles and thick voice. There are specific DHT Blocker available for women. Although the exact reasons have yet to be discovered it has been established by the researchers that the over production of DHT leaves the subjects exposed to the risks of prostate cancer and benign enlargement of the prostate.

Laser Hair Restoration and the Production of New Hair

Thursday, 9 July 2009

Laser hair restoration involves a selection of procedures that all use laser light to stimulate the existing hair follicles to become serviceable again after going into their resting phase. The Laser Luce LDS 100 is one example of this type of application that has provided some good data in clinical tests. Some of these trials have been done on a clinical basis using controls involving comparisons with placebo treatments. Most trials use a six month baseline to examine their effectiveness. The LDS tests have results of treatments extending up to 1 year.

Laser hair restoration procedures all utilise low level power lasers at particular wavelengths of light. It is the frequency or wavelength that gives the specifics of each treatment. Laser Luceuses laser light in the Infra red area of light frequencies. The power is important in terms of the laser light also. Higher power lasers are used in industry to slice materials such as steel panels. It is important to understand that the laser light in such hair treatment apparatus is of such a small power that it will not even burn the skin let alone cut into it.

The laser light in the Laser Luce procedure actions by stimulating the skin cells in the scalp and especially those that make up the hair follicles. At thecell level it has been shown that respiration is promoted making the cells more active. Cell membranes get more responsive in the transfer of substances across them. The production of proteins is stimulated at the DNA level and metabolic activity is promoted. The increased movement across membranes seems to allow these conditions to be communicated from one area to another. At the tissue level all this new activity stimulates the spread of the blood capillary system connecting the scalp cells. The net product of all this greater activity is that the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles is greatly improved. It is thought that this can cause hair follicles, which have started to die away, to reawaken and begin to make healthy hair once again. Hair manufacture is therefore stimulated and there should be an increase in the level of hair and the general thickness. Continued treatment can maintain the hair growth that has been made.

For the patient the procedure couldn't be easier. It means sitting under a device shaped like a dome. The lining of the dome is covered in special diodes that produce the laser light. These flash regularly illuminating the skin with the laser light. The scalp absorbs the light, which stimulates the hair follicles. During the treatment there is no pain and the patient can study a news paper to pass the time. At the end of the session the patient doesn't have to recover and can go home straight away.

Clinical trials have to establish if new hair has been produced and that the treatment being tested is responsible for the results seen. The use of clients taking a placebo treatment is the method used to make sure that the laser procedure is the causative agent. These clients use the same treatment but no LDS 100 is actually used. Hair counts, before and after photographs and patient self assessment are methods used to establish the extent of hair regrowth. Results from recent tests have shown that LDS 100 hair counts were greater over a 6 month period and that these results were maintained over the following 6 month term. In contrast, those using the placebo made sure the natural loss of hair that one would expect. The results of photographic evidence show that the peak of hair restoration takes placebetween 6 and 12 months of treatment.

Laser hair restoration using the Laser Luce treatment gives a painless way for men and women to regrow hair that has been lost. The results of tests have shown that the laser light not only promotes new hair but then procedes to maintain it by giving the best conditions for the hair follicles to survive.

Coloring Your Hair – So Many Colors To Choose From

Wednesday, 3 June 2009

If you’re tired of your same old look and are looking for a makeover the quickest and most dramatic way to change your look is by coloring your hair. But with so many colors to choose from what color do you pick?

Before you even begin to pick a color you need to understand a little bit about the different types of dyes. Permanent hair color uses peroxide to lift your hair color and open the hair cuticle so that the new tint can penetrate and form the color. The higher the level of peroxide is the quicker the color will take and the lighter the results will be.

But not all of us want to make a permanent change to our hair color and that’s why there are semi permanent colors to choose from. These colors don’t lift any of your natural color. They have a small amount of peroxide so the cuticle is opened up slightly for the color to adhere slightly so the color slowly fades away leaving nor regrowth. Color will usually last about 20 washes.

Now that you understand the two different types of hair dye you need to decide what color you want to be. First understand that if you want to actually change your hair color you’ll need to use a permanent hair color. Semi permanents only add color over top so you won’t be able to go from say brunette to a blonde with a semi but you could get some great red highlights.

When choosing your new color if you aren’t sure then be sure to get some professional advise. Hair style and skin tone play an important role in how a color will look. Your new hair needs to compliment your skin tone so if you are fair skinned stay away from dark colors or black which will wash your complexion out. And dark toned skin doesn’t look good with one shade of blonde but mix up several shades and add some of your natural dark hair color into the mix and it’s “hot!”

If you’ve always wanted to be a blonde and you’ve decided now is the time to do it then go for it. If you haven’t played with hair dyes in the past then a home dye kit with a bleaching component in it may work for you. However if you have used dyes in the past you “must” get your hair done professionally.

The reason is that the old color has to be lifted out and this is a long process but it must also be done with caution so as not to make the hair brittle. You must also be able to strip the hair evenly and then reapply your new blonde color over it. Your stylist is trained to do this and will tell you if your hair is a candidate for it.

If you try this at home here’s what you can expect. Orange hair – and we aren’t talking cool punk rock orange we are talking carrot which may even be combined with some white patches on new growth hair at the roots. Hum that’s attractive. Top that with harsh bleaching compounds and inexperience and you could also land up with hair that is breaking off at the root. All that damage to your hair and the only way to fix it will be to dye it back to brown. So I repeat if you are dark haired, have red in your hair, or have previously dyed your hair leave going blonde to the pros.

Red is a very sexy color and it screams for attention. Red adheres well to the hair shaft so it’s fairly easy for most people to accomplish. Unfortunately red also fades fast so you may have to repeat more often than other colors. If you are blonde you will have to darken your hair a few shades to get a naturally rich brunette red shade otherwise you’ll look like a red chili pepper.

Brown shades are safe choices for almost anyone and there is a variety of shaded to choose from. And dark pigments add volume making your hair shiny and healthy looking.

Black is the easiest color to apply and there is really no way to mess this one up. It will cover all hair colors and hair types. But you need to use caution because black doesn’t look good on everyone. It will look good on dark and olive skins and it has a bit of a Goth look to it but it can make you look like you’ve got one foot in the grave if you are older or your skin is too fair. Black is also next to impossible to get out of your hair so great for short hair but think about it before doing your long hair. Are you sure you can live with it?

If you aren’t sure about the color you want to try and a semi permanent is appropriate it’s a great way to get a feel for a color. And if you don’t like it just wash your hair lots and it will be gone in no time. You can do permanent color changes at home but if you aren’t sure always check with a stylist.

So if you are tired of your same old hair and are ready change by coloring your hair get ready for a brand new look. Now the only question is what color will you choose?

HairMax LaserComb: An Ultimate Answer to Hair Loss

Tuesday, 19 July 2011

Hair loss, for many people, is not a demoralising condition. However, many men and women who have encountered hair loss can become very anxious and embarrassed about the condition. Androgenic alopecia is a common type hair loss in men. This hair condition is more commonly known as male pattern baldness.

Though there is no specific age that people experience hair loss, but timely treatment can help to slow down the process. At any given time the human head has more than 100,000 strands of hair, and about 100 of these hairs shed every day. When we look at the average growth cycle of a hair, it is about 2-6 years, after which a new hair grows and replaces the old one. So the next time you find loose hairs on your pillow after waking up in the morning, there may be no reason to panic too much because, generally, the hair that is lost is replaced with a new one.

What causes hair fall?

It is a well know fact that each strand of hair is rooted in a follicle, which is a tiny sac in the scalp. If we talk specifically about male pattern baldness, the hair follicles develop sensitivity to a male hormone known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT). As a result, the follicles shrink in their sizes and are not able to hold the hair. It also affects the scalp's ability to grow new hair. This leads to a pattern of hair loss which starts receding hairline at the temple.

Laser combs: An ultimate solution for hair loss

In the past, laser therapy was only used for removal of unwanted hair. But over time, it was discovered that by adjusting the strength of the laser, you can encourage and enhance the natural growth of the hair. The lasers can strengthen the damaged hair follicles to recover their functions in the same way it can heal soft tissue wounds by promoting blood flow to the area. The HairMax LaserComb is an innovative product among a number of hair loss products on the market that ensures an effective treatment of hair loss problems. It is basically a sleek handheld comb that stimulates hair follicles increasing cellular metabolism and the development of capillaries (minute blood vessels) in the scalp. This ultimately increases the circulation of the blood to the scalp, which brings essential nutrients to the hair follicles. As a result, the follicles become capable of growing thicker and richer hair.

How to use the HairMax LaserComb?

Using a HairMax comb is as easy as combing hair. You simply have to turn on the laser button to get it started. Place the laser comb on your scalp and glide its 2 rows of teeth as though combing your hair. You need to glide it back half an inch each time until a 4-second beep is heard. In the same way, you can use this laser comb for the hairs at the back of your head. The FDA has approved The hairMax LaserComb Advanced 7, The hairMax LaserComb Lux 9 and hairMax LaserComb professional 12 to be used by both men and women for the treatment of their hair loss.

Female Hair Transplant - Confused? What Really Works?

Tuesday, 22 February 2011

Are you tired of thinning hair? Have you looked at wigs, hair weaves and extensions, topical solutions, so-called "wonder cure" hair loss shampoos and natural treatments but haven't found an answer for your problem? Why not consider a female hair transplant!

New technology and improved surgical techniques have transformed hair transplants. At the same time, more precise instrumentation allows physicians to work faster. This has changed hair transplants from one of the most tedious and labor-intensive surgical procedures into one day surgery. Faster and more effective techniques have made hair transplants an appealing choice to women. Plus, FUE (follicular unit extraction) is a remarkably straight forward surgical procedure and most women recover in several days and return to work. There is some discomfort in the graft areas for a couple of days. Most patients can control this soreness with an over the counter drug like Tylenol. When new hair grows in, the result for a woman is subtle. People notice their hair looks better but they are not quite certain why.

Hair loss can be caused by number of factors like thyroid irregularities, iron deficiencies, or other ailments. Giving birth can cause hair loss too. But the most frequent cause women lose their hair is genetics. Contrary to widespread belief, the genetic characteristic is not passed from your grandfather neither does it skip a generation. The likelihood is passed on from all your relatives. The greater number of bald people in your family, the more your chance is of losing your hair.

Most prospects for hair transplants are those who have typical female pattern thinning. In hair transplantation new hair is not created, but hair is redistributed from the back and sides of the head to places where it is thinning. Men have bald areas in the back or front of their head while women's hair loss usually is more diffuse losing hair from all parts of their head

Conquering hair loss and restoring lost hair is to many hair loss patients a distant dream. However, there are existing options for replacing lost hair and some of them may seem surprisingly effective even to the most sceptical hair loss sufferer. The three main methods of hair restoration include surgical hair restoration, non-surgical hair replacement and therapies for reversing hair loss using pills and topicals. The principal technique of surgical hair restoration today is hair transplant surgery, whereas wigs, hairpieces, hair loss concealers and hair thickeners are the most popular aids used to replace the lost hair by non-surgical means. The non-surgical cover-up is clearly the quickest and the least expensive method of replacing lost hair, though not too popular, as many people believe that wigs and concealers cannot withstand rain and wind and do not appear natural. In spite of this common prejudice, some of them are extremely resistant to external influences and can look very authentic. Wigs and concealers are often the only remaining option of restoring lost hair for people suffering from non-hereditary forms of hair loss such as unpredictable alopecia areata.

Surgical hair restoration is the most expensive method of restoring lost hair but also the most elegant and lasting solution. It can only be used in people suffering from hereditary baldness and burn patients. Candidates must have sufficient hair density at the back of their scalp and many women suffering from female form of hair loss with its typical diffuse balding pattern do not meet this condition. Hair restoration surgery has made great strides in the past twenty years with the introduction of the two main techniques used today - follicular unit transplantation (FUT) and, more recently, follicular unit extraction (FUE). These advances in hair transplantation techniques enable the grouping of hairs very densely together, which gives modern hair transplants an entirely natural look. The main weakness of hair transplant surgery, besides the cost and the pain involved, is the limited supply of donor hair and the need for multiple surgeries to achieve the final desired change. Furthermore, patients have to commit themselves to the use of finasteride or any other adequate medicinal hair loss treatment for the rest of their lives to prevent further loss of hair.

Hair loss pills and topical applications do not, despite major scientific advances and the discoveries of recent years, provide satisfactory hair restoration results yet. The two most frequently prescribed hair loss drugs, finasteride and topical minoxidil, can be effectively used in many male patients to reduce hair loss but their ability to regrow lost hair is weak. Their effectiveness declines significantly in the later stages of the balding process. There is no existing medicinal or natural hair loss remedy that can deliver adequate visual results comparable to either hair transplant surgery or non-surgical hair replacements such as hairpieces and hair loss concealers. Although there are some promising medicinal hair loss drugs currently being developed, specifically in the area of genetic research, the ultimate pill for baldness is not expected to become commercially available within the next fifteen years. Other advances in hair science, such as hair multiplication or the generation of new hair follicles in wounds of hair-free skin, also hold out solid promise but it appears that hair transplantation will in the next ten to fifteen years remain the most complete method of hair restoration.

A Head Of Hair With Rogaine For Women

Wednesday, 1 December 2010

How does one avoid falling hair? Step to one side. However bad this joke may sound, it is perhaps the most practical and realistic approach to the hair loss phenomenon. Since the industry does not tolerate bad hair jokes, it perseveres to discover various means to remove the stigma of bad hair days. Rogaine for women is one of the leading products to offer a lifesaver to many females on the path towards obvious balding of hereditary means. Although much clinical study has been performed with significant results to show, there is always no guarantee that application of any product equals to a perfect remedy.

In accordance to manufacturer's specification, this topical treatment is meant to assist in reversing the progress of hair loss as well as promote growth of new hair. In simple terms, it slow downs the shedding of existing hair whilst encouraging new ones to sprout forth. All in all, one should end up with a healthy mane to the envy of any male lion. If one opts to get on the hair wagon, there are some aspects for careful consideration. Rogaine for women needs time for positive results to show. In fact, initial application may cause some existing hair to fall out in order to make way for new hair. This is supposedly an expected occurrence and should not cause too much of a concern. However, it may be wise to see a doctor if it persists for too long a period.

With correct application and dosage, there is no reason to alter one's styling needs so long as the ends justify the means. It is thus best not to add further distress to one's tresses by limiting the cocktail of chemicals applied onto one's scalp. Assuming all goes as expected, new strands start to grow in due time.

It is essential to understand that external stimuli are used to promote growth of new hair. If one chooses to stop usage, things may resume to their original condition as the effects of Rogaine for women are no longer present.

A Golden Future with Hair Restoration

Friday, 17 July 2009

Hair loss affects you in many ways but the main thing that it does is destroy confidence. Without confidence you have problems going about general life. Life is ultimately a competition and without all your natural attributes, such as a full head of hair, it is difficult to see how the game is fair. It can affect relationships or future relationships, job interviews, respect in friendship groups and perhaps more generally how we react to the rest of the world. It is no wonder that people with hair loss are increasingly looking for ways to restore their hair so that they can look forward to a bold future and not a bald one.

Hair restoration is any method used that provides a way for you to replace hairs in an area that is bald or balding. There are 2 main ways that are used. The first involves the stimulation of remaining hair follicles to wake them up and begin producing hair once again. The second relies on transplanting follicles from areas of the scalp where it continues to grow to areas that are thinning or bald. There are a number of techniques used for both strategies. Certainly the stimulation of hair follicles is a good method in the first stages of balding, where as the transplant method is better for older people with more extensive hair loss.

There are a range of techniques that can be employed to promote the hair follicles that you still have. There are drugs such as Minoxidil which despite initially used to aid with the problems of high blood pressure have since been found to stimulate hair production in the scalp as a side effect.

There are still more drugs and herbal cures that work by blocking the effect of androgen male hormones on the working of hair cells. These stop a problematic hormone called DHT being produced in the hair follicles. Persons with genetic type baldness seem to have follicles that are very sensitive to this DHT hormone. They react by making far weaker hair and eventually shrinking away to nothing. These drugs and herbs reawaken the hair follicles causing them to go on to produce good hair once again.

Another method involves the use of low energy laser light. This laser light in the infra red band of the electro magnetic spectrum has been found to stimulate respiration and blood circulation in scalp tissue. This keeps the hair follicles healthy so that they go one to make hair. The usual methodology for these treatments is to first reawaken the scalp follicles, get them to make healthy hair and then keep them in this growth period so that they don't wither away and die off.

The alternative for people with bigger bald areas is to use some type of hair transplant. This always involves a degree of hair transplant surgery. methods in this area have improved greatly over the last few years. They all depend on the fact that follicles from the back of the head always continue to produce healthy hair no matter where located. For some reason the hair cells remain resistant to the DHT chemical even if they are transplanted.

Early methods used to transplant strips of scalp skin complete with follicles. This has the difficulty of causing a lot of pain, scarring at the back of the head and the problem in getting a natural look in the new location. New techniques use microscopes to identify and extract small groups of hair follicles and transplant them to the new area. In this way the level of disruption to the donor site is very small, which reduces scarring in this area. During the transplant of these follicle groups it is possible to make sure that they look natural in their new location by putting them at the correct angle and direction to lie evenly in comparison to the remaining hair.

In terms of hair transplant cost the older methods are the cheapest because they are less labor intensive. However, as can be seen there are larger benefits in the newer follicular unit treatment. It is a problem that some clinics are still using the old methods purely because of the extra profits that can be made.

These hair restoration methods that have been given could be seen as a life long process with people starting with regrowing and maintaining hair follicles and then going on to hair transplants later in life. Costs can be high as visits to clinics have to be maintained over many years. However, the results can be very good and potentially life changing making a bold future a reality.

Understanding Hair Growth Cycles And Hair Loss

Wednesday, 22 July 2009

Hair growth products are used to treat hair loss. Find out more about them here. For nutritional tips, see this article covering vitamins for hair loss. Rebecca Prescott presents this site with vitamins and hair loss information.

We all lose a certain amount of hair each day - anywhere from 50 to 100 to 125 hairs. True hair loss occurs when these hairs we lose don't grow back, or when the amount of hair we lose each day exceeds this normal range.

Hair loss can occur as a result of medications, such as chemotherapy treatments or blood thinners, which can damage the telogen hairs, or stop the natural cell division that then produces weakened hair that is susceptible to breaking. High doses of vitamin A can also lead to hair loss as well. The most common type of hair loss, however, is where more and more hair follicles enter what is called the resting phase (telogen phase) in the hair growth cycle.

Overall, hair grows continuously from the scalp, but it moves away from the scalp in 3 phases. Hair is not all uniformly in one phase. Different parts of the scalp will be in different phases, so at any one time you should have hair follicles in all 3 stages. Generally, most (90%) of the hair will be in the anagen phase, 10 to 14% of the hair will be in the telogen phase, and only 1 to 2% of hair in the catogen phase.

The first phase is the Anagen phase, which is the growth phase. This can last anywhere between 2 and 8 years. A shorter anagen phase will limit how long your hair can grow. Hair cells at the root divide rapidly, which lengthen the hair shaft.

In the next phase, the catagen phase, the outer root of the hair follicle shrinks and attaches to the root of the hair. Hair growth stops here. This phase lasts 1 to 2 weeks.

The telogen phase is the resting phase. This lasts from 5 to 6 weeks in normal hair. Hair doesn't grow in this phase, but it stays firmly rooted in the scalp as long as the follicle stays in a resting phase below it. New growth begins at the end of the resting phase, and this is when natural hair shedding will happen, as the new growth pushes the old hair out.

In male pattern baldness, more hairs enter the telogen phase. This effects of this are an increase in hair shedding. Hair gradually becomes thinner and shorter, and in the end, the hair follicles shut down.

Top 10 Reasons To Do Laser Hair Treatment

Monday, 15 June 2009

You know the drill. You get up, take a shower, and watch your hair swirl in the drain. You check your hair out in the mirror and find a little less than you had the day before. Your hairline is receding and you’ve tried the shampoos and the Rogaine with minimal success. You’ve done the hair system thing, but that’s just not you. So what’s a person to do? Live with hair loss? Maybe not.

Here are top ten reasons to try a new laser hair treatment program.

1. The use of low level lasers in the treatment of hair loss is one of the latest technological breakthroughs in hair restoration therapy. This low level laser hair treatment has been used with great success in Europe for the past ten years, but is only recently coming into use here in the states. Uses of hand-held laser combs have been approved by the FDA for home use.

2. Low light lasers use cool red light to stimulate blood flow to the scalp. There are many factors involved in male and female pattern hair loss - genetics, hormones, age. When hair follicles begin to fail because of an overabundance of DHT (dihydrotestosterone) in the body (a hormone that comes with aging) and lack of blood flow to that area of the scalp, hair follicles shrink and eventually miniaturize and fail to thrive. Finally, hair follicles disappear altogether. Once follicles die, nothing can be done to help them. That’s why it’s important to start laser hair treatment when your hair is in the thinning stage, before it’s gone altogether. Cool laser hair treatment stimulates this blood flow and restores vitality to the root, encouraging regrowth.

3. Laser hair treatment can be used in conjunction with your current mode of hair loss treatment. If you’ve taking Rogaine or Propecia and seeing minimal results, laser hair treatment can boost the effectiveness of medications. By stimulating regrowth of hair follicles with the use of red, low light lasers, it helps the medications work more effectively. In clinical studies, 45% of patients saw noticeable results in 6 - 8 weeks, and within 4 - 6 months, another 45% saw definite improvement in the quality of the hair that was regrowing and in the thickness of their hair.

4. Laser hair treatment is pain-free and has virtually no side effects. For those fearful or reluctant to use prescription medication treatments such as Rogaine or Propecia, a laser hair treatment program offers a safe, effective and risk-free way to treat hair loss. Lasers stimulate blood flow to the scalp, and energized the hair follicles, but do not damage skin.

5. Laser hair treatment will not bust your budget. Compared to other hair loss treatments, laser hair treatments are affordable; the cost is much cheaper than alternatives like surgical hair restoration, or a high-end hair system that will require maintenance.

6. Laser hair treatment vs. hair systems – Hair systems require some kind of glue or adhesive to stay on. There is always the risk that an edge will come up or that even the best hair system will be detectable. With laser hair treatment, you’re only dealing with your own natural hair. No glue, no hoping people don’t notice you’re wearing a hair system.

7. No surgery – There is no surgery involved with laser hair treatment, and more importantly, no anesthesia required. Hair restoration surgery (or follicular hair transplantation surgery) is very expensive and requires 10 days of downtime following surgery. Laser hair treatments can be done on your lunch break or in front of the TV at night and require no down time. And there is no risk of infection involved as there is with any surgery.

8. Laser Hair Treatments are natural – Many people simply don’t believe in taking medication or in doing surgery to restore hair. They want a more natural approach. Nothing is more natural than using light to regrow your hair. The kind of red light used in laser hair treatments is not the kind that will give you sunburn or encourage skin problems. On the contrary, it can even help flaky, itchy scalps to heal and naturally stimulate the health and vitality of the scalp and hair.

9. No need to be self-conscious by visiting a hair replacement clinic. If you dread the idea of walking into a hair restoration clinic to be measured, prodded and evaluated, or if you’re simply too shy to be bothered with it, a laser hair treatment program with an in-home hand-held laser comb may be your best solution.

10. Hand-held laser combs for home use - If you choose the hand-held laser comb that is now on the market, it’s an even more cost effective option. Use of the laser comb three times a week at home for 30 to 40 minutes is all you need to do. No need to drive in to a clinic for laser hair treatments. And it’s yours forever. As your hair regrows after using laser hair therapy, your confidence will grow as well. A thick head of healthy hair means a more vital, healthy, happy you.

Laser Hair Therapy puts the Brakes on Hair Loss

Thursday, 30 April 2009

Laser Hair Therapy has been around for a while, but to Americans it is relatively a new concept. If you polled a roomful of men about it, chances are they wouldn’t know what Laser Hair Loss Therapy was, much less what it could do for them. In that same room full of men, it would be a good guess that at least 60% of them could benefit from Laser Hair Therapy.

What is it? Laser Hair Therapy is a hair loss treatment method used mostly in hair restoration clinics and by dermatologists that utilizes low light laser energy to dramatically thicken, and in many cases, re-grows lost hair. Many men who suffer from hair loss use products such as Propecia or other topical products to re-grow their hair; the problem is that these products, while they are somewhat effective, can have side effects. Medical procedures such as transplanting hair carry with them their own problems; mostly the serious expense and the iffy results. So what’s a guy to do who’s noticing a drain-full of his hair every time he showers? The answer? Laser Hair Therapy for Men.

First, let’s explore what causes Hair Loss in the first place. It hardly seems fair but men in particular seem to be doomed to experience significant hair loss at some point in their lives. Most men resignedly believe baldness is their destiny. If you look at your parent’s hair, you may have a good idea of when your own hair may go. But what causes it? Scientists have been exploring this dilemma for decades. They fought it with snake oil and creams, then wigs and hairpieces when all else failed. But today, scientists understand more about what causes men to lose their hair.

Most often, there is a genetic component to male pattern hair loss. Hair follicles in the scalp have their own little time clocks. At a certain point in a man’s life, the regular cycle of hair growth, resting phase, shedding and regrowth responds to some kind of trigger within the hair follicle itself. This response is instigated by lowering levels of hormones; testosterone, specifically and the resulting over-production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT prohibits the absorption of essential proteins and calcium into the root of the hair follicle. When this happens, the root weakens. It may grow back for a few cycles, but you’ll notice your hair getting thinner and weaker. Soon, that follicle cannot support the growth of another hair and gives up. When your scalp should be replacing everything you just shed into the drain, it fails to do so. Scientists who study hair loss have discovered that this whole process can be dramatically altered by the use of low light laser therapy.

Low light Laser Hair Therapy is effective for increasing the blood circulation around the hair follicles and clearing the way for nutrients to reach the root again. Refreshed blood flow can also remedy problems like itchy or flaky scalp or over-active sebaceous glands that can interfere with re-growth. Laser Hair Therapy, applied for 20 to 30 minute intervals, several times a week, routinely produces a significant change in hair quality of close to 90% of those who tried it. With Laser Hair Loss Therapy, men find that their hair grows in thicker and stronger. The thin, scalp-showing wafts of hair fill in and regain their old bounce and character. Not only that, but also many men have seen those areas that seemed to have given up the fight begin to re-grow, too. Though many see results within a few weeks, for others, full results from Laser Hair Therapy will take between six months to a year.

Robert Lassup, a Los Angeles contractor, was doubtful anything could turn his hair loss around. He was only thirty, but he’d been losing hair since he turned twenty-six. The worst part for him was the stigma of losing his hair so young. It made him feel older than his years. Looking the way he did, he felt that he couldn’t compete in the dating market and even job interviewers looked doubtful when he told them his age. He tried medications, but they didn’t do much. He worried about what else they might be doing to him. So he quit using them. Hair systems definitely weren’t for him. But when he heard about Laser Hair Therapy, and that men in Europe had been using it successfully for years, he decided he had nothing to lose in trying it.

The Laser Hair Therapy Clinic he went to assured him that the lasers they would use were “cool lasers”. There would be no pain involved. In fact, they told him that standing in front of a microwave for two minutes would pose more of a danger than thirty minutes under low light Laser Hair Loss Therapy. Robert felt hopeful for the first time in years as he noticed his hair begin to respond right away. His hair loss stopped and his hair grew noticeably thicker and began to fill in around his hairline. He did, in fact re-grow some of the hair that he thought was gone forever. But even more important, he regained his self-confidence. “Even I didn’t understand how much my hair loss was affecting me,” Robert says now. “I realized as my hair circled that drain, I had stopped showing up for my own life. Getting my hair back with Laser Hair Therapy made me feel like myself again. I intend to make the most of it.”

Stop Hair Loss And Regrow Hair !

Monday, 10 August 2009

Hair loss in men

Hair loss and thinning hair have been sensitive issues for men throughout time. Recently, medical science has eventually identified the main cause of hair loss. At present, it's a known medical fact that hair loss stems from both genetic and hormonal causes. Androgenetic Alopecia or even "male pattern hair loss" is implicated in ninety five percent of hair loss cases. The key is a hormonal byproduct called DHT (dihydrotestostrone). The even more DHT that gets put into your body, the even more your hair follicles turn into thinner and finer until the hair is permanently wasted.

DHT and hair loss

DHT is 1 of many male hormones in the body. DHT is developmentally vital early in a man's life; however, it appears to be a cause of hair loss as men get older. DHT shrinks the hair follicle until it no longer produces obvious hair.

Doctors believe that excess DHT is an apparent cause of hair loss

The causes of hair loss aren't well defined; however, researchers have uncovered that men with male pattern hair loss have increased levels of DHT in the balding area of their scalps. Individual hair usually follows a cycle of expansion, falling out, and new expansion. However increased levels of DHT are believed to contribute to the shortening of the expansion phase and a shortening of the time it takes for the hair to fall out. This results in thinning of the hair on the scalp.

Provillus blocks DHT (dihydrotestostrone) from getting to your body, which is 1 of the major causes of hair loss. The Breakthrough formula of Provillus was designed to block DHT and supply the proper foods to your body specifically tailored to block hair loss and to help you regrow hair naturally. Strong, sound hair begins with the proper nutritional building blocks. You do not have to hold off until there's a problem to end it! Provillus supplements your body's natural supply of these vitamins and lets the tiny follicles below your scalp receive exactly what they want to manufacture beautiful, full-bodied hair.

Active Ingredients For Hair Loss And Regrow Hair !

Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin that survives in 3 major chemical forms: pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine. It performs a wide kind of functions for your body and is essential for your fantastic health and hair expansion. For instance, vitamin B6 is needed for even more than one hundred enzymes involved in protein metabolism. It's also essential for red blood cell metabolism. The nervous and resistant systems require vitamin B6 to function efficiently, and it's also needed for the conversion of tryptophan to niacin.

Biotin is section of the Vitamin B complex and is a vitamin supplement necessary for sound hair, scalp and nails. Biotin will help with the condition of the hair and the scalp as well. Just put...Biotin is Hair Food.

Magnesium is an essential mineral and plays an crucial role in energy metabolism, protein synthesis, neuromuscular transmission bone structure and hair expansion.

Zinc is necessary for a fit body, and is also of apply in fighting skin problems like acne, boils and sore throats. It's further needed for cell division, and is needed per tissue of the hair, nails and skin to be in top form. Zinc is further utilized in the expansion and maintenance of muscles.

Saw Palmetto acts by lowering DHT in the body and by blocking five alpha-reductase. Saw palmetto blocks the receptor sites on cell membranes that are expected for the absorption of DHT. Since Saw palmetto blocks the employ of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is a similar causative factor in Androgenetic Alopecia, it's a powerful herb in this hair expansion formulation.

Nettle root blocks two enzymes, 5a-reductase, which makes the dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and aromatase enzyme, which makes estrogens. Studies showed that nettle root extract was efficient in inhibiting these two enzymes which was a leading cause of hair loss.

Gotu Kola is related to the and supports the integrity of hair expansion, collagen and skin. It can help heal minor wounds and skin irritations, help assure blood vessel integrity, and promote circulation throughout the body, including to the brain. A long-standing tonic rejuvenator, it's said to help concentration and memory.

Pumpkin (Cucurbita Maxima) The oil extract from pumpkin seeds is also a natural hair loss remedy that is believed to effect levels of testosterone in the body. The beneficial effects of pumpkin seed extract as a hair loss guide are however under investigation. It's believed that the extract infects the androgen levels of diseases and so might have an influence on the androgens that are responsible for hair loss.

Eleuthero Formerly Siberian Ginseng, (Glandular) is a member of the ginseng family, though it's of a different genus than more popular ginsengs like the Panax kind. Along with more ginsengs, it's an extended history of being utilized to help restore.

Hair Loss Solutions - How To Help Stop Hair Loss And Regrow Hair

Monday, 27 April 2009

Hair loss and male-pattern baldness is an affliction suffered by thousands of men, and can be a real source of insecurity and embarrassment for those not ready to lose their hair or shave their head. Even worse, and more devastating are the younger cases where the hair loss process begins long before a man even reaches his thirtieth birthday. So what are your options if you are one of these men, uncontrollably losing your hair before your time?

Well, you can do what many others do – shave your head for the sake of uniformity. Lots of men look great with a shaved head – it just fits their personality and style, and they seem comfortable that way. For those unwilling to give up on their hair, there are hairpieces or plugs, neither of which have been perfected to the point of being undetectable, and both having a societal stigma as being somewhat tacky and undesirable.

The other option, of course, is to try one of the hair loss products that several reputable manufacturers now offer, both in prescription and nonprescription form. While there is still no “magic pill” that can unflinchingly promise every man (and woman) who takes it will re-grow their hair, there are some very promising and effective hair loss products and treatments currently on the market and also in development.

Propecia, Rogaine (Monoxadil), Avacor and Proxiphen are just a few of the top prescription and nonprescription hair loss products on the market today, and they’ve all had varying degrees of success in re-growing their client’s hair. Since the demand for hair loss products is so great, there have been many non-prescription hair loss alternatives recently introduced in an effort to offer men (and women) a more economical and convenient alternative to re-grow hair and prevent further hair loss.

There are also several vitamins that have been specially formulated both for thinning hair and to promote the speedy growth of healthy, shiny hair. Vitamins for thinning hair and faster hair growth and re-growth are usually a varying combination of several key amino acids, biotin, vitamins B6 and E, and zinc. Many who take vitamins of this nature do report thicker, more lustrous and healthy hair, but if your goal is to actually re-grow hair and not just thicken thinning hair, then you would probably want to consider a more serious hair loss supplement or treatment that specifically targets balding and hair loss.

Here's a little tip to help stimulate hair growth – massage the scalp. This is an age-old hairstylist tip to help stimulate the hair follicles, unclog any blocked oil glands in the scalp, and help promote a healthy scalp and new, healthy hair growth. Plus, it’s relaxing and it feels good, so it’s not such a chore!

Hair loss supplements can range from pricey to reasonable, tested and untested, and clinically proven vs. not clinically proven. You have to use good judgment and do a little homework on the internet, or by reading consumer reviews, testimonials and surveys to see what really should work best for your situation. Some even offer money back guarantees or some sort or money back for unused portions.

Now, let’s talk about being proactive in preventing future hair loss. Many times, the underlying cause for premature hair loss and male pattern balding is hereditary, but it can also be brought on by a hormonal imbalance of the male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens. Correcting a hormonal imbalance many times can stop hair loss. This example can be seen in women who notice hair loss shortly after they’ve had a baby. The cause for this is a drop in hormones that kept much more hair on the head than normal during pregnancy because the levels of this hormone are unusually high at this time.

Some medications can also cause or aggravate hair loss. Typically these medications are blood thinners, gout medication, chemotherapy medications for cancer, too much vitamin A, birth control pills and antidepressants. Avoid tight or “pulling” hairstyles like high or tight ponytails and cornrows, and also stay away from harsh chemical treatments such as perms and other potentially volatile, damaging hair treatments.

Typical hair loss treatments, prescription and nonprescription, usually take about six months before you can tell they are working, so patience is a must. There is no overnight fix to hair loss unfortunately. As long as you are comfortable with your chosen hair loss remedy, and have planned a preventative and maintenance course of action, that’s really all that matters.

About female hair loss herbal treatment

People often have the mistaken notion that only males can lose hair and that alopecia is a physiological defect the gentle sex is exempt from. As a matter of fact, almost 20% of females in the world are in dire need of protection from the frightful menace of losing their beautiful hair. Most of them have never imagined that there is such a possibility in a woman's life. First of all, there is the female pattern alopecia, which is somewhat similar to the male pattern baldness, though much less severe. Women seem now to be increasingly threatened by what is called diffuse idiopathic alopecia, the cause of which has not yet been definitely ascertained. It is an insidious disease which may not be apparent until about 80% of the hair is lost, and is then manifest as a diffuse thinning of the hair over the entire scalp.

Testosterone excretion has been shown to be elevated, and some theories have been put forward on this basis to explain this type of female alopecia. It is said that this type of alopecia is associated with seborrhea. Anyhow seborrhea should be controlled, no matter whether or not it is really the cause of the hair fall. It has also been suggested that estrogens should be taken internally. How effective this therapy is has not yet been determined. Another suggested treatment is low-dose interrupted courses of corticosteroids.

It's now not so wonderful as it once seemed to be. The hair regenerator we are introducing to patients here is based on the remarkable efficacy of traditional Chinese medicinal herbs in tackling hair loss problems. External application is combined with oral administration, if necessary. And the afflicted girl or woman must be persuaded not to develop any strong neurotic reaction to the hair loss. This is the way traditional Chinese medical practitioners do their work.

In ancient China silk of the light blue color was very precious. It was used only for making rich garments. A beautiful woman's hair was compared to light-blue silk. The famous poet of the Tang Dynasty Bai Juyi noticed the pitiful fact that women also lost hair and described it in the following line:"Fell the silk of light blue and sparse grew the temples."

The situation deplored by the renowned Tang Dynasty poet has become more serious in the contemporary world. But there is no need for female to get into a panic if she finds a few hairs on her pillow in the morning. It is normal for a person, whether male or female, to lose 50-100 pieces of hair during the 24 hours of a day, because he/she is supposed to have one hundred thousand pieces of hair on his/her scalp. If the person washes his/her head and finds a lot of hair in the water, then the situation is more serious.

It is highly probable that he/she is losing hair. It is certain that a woman will feel greatly alarmed or even become ashamed of herself if she should discover that her scalp is barely covered by a thin layer of hair. This is a natural reaction, because her beauty is impaired. Now, what are the causes of hair loss in the case of females? An obvious cause is some chronic skin disease. It must not be overlooked that ringworm may bring about alopecia with scaling and pustulation. This is far more serious than alopecia which is due to other diseases, such as anemia, so far as the possibility of regrowth of hair is concerned.
